Urgent Help Needed With Project Malamute

There has been a recent arrest of a Helena, Montana breeder (member of the Alaskan Malamute Club of America -AMCA) who has over 160 dogs in pretty bad shape.   Several of the bitches are pregnant and many new puppies will be soon born.   The American Humane Society assisted the local Lewis & Clark Humane Society in the seizure of the dogs and while in process, over 200 pot plants were found.   The breeder:  Mike Chilinski is charged with animal cruelty and dangerous drug production.

Our national mal network is in the process of lending support to this effort.   Until the legal charges are addressed, no dogs will be leaving the shelter.   Most dogs are very weak and need remedial efforts to get to an adoptable status.   POLARIS will attempt to lend our support as best we can.   Unfortunately, the holiday season is approaching and kennel resources will be scarce.

Any Northern breed owners with facilities that might provide POLARIS foster homes are encouraged to sign up as volunteers asap.  POLARIS will review the potential homes in advance of getting word of availability from this horrible situation.   As soon as the dogs are available (dependent upon legal requirements and medical conditions), we will work to line up foster homes for these animals.   Donations will go towards the immediate medical care of the mals.
